Aamir Khan’s latest film ‘3 Idiots’ which released in India today will be available on YouTube exactly after 12 weeks from today.
Due to an agreement between producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra and YouTube, any one will be able to download 3 idiots movie (for a cost). This innovative move has been taken to curb the menace of privacy.
“I’m providing this facility for those who can’t see it on big screen and watch pirated movies. I just want them to discourage pirated prints. They just need to wait for 12 weeks and after that they can legally download the movie and watch it. Tomorrow if there is a facility to watch movies on mobile phones, the film will be available there but in appropriate time. We can’t harm our theatrical business by releasing at DTH”- Vidhu Vinod Chopra
The cost of 3 Idiots film tickets has been increase by 35%. So the idea is to extract the film cost in 3 months or 12 weeks and then make it available on Youtube at a small price.
But there are few other issues involved here. As we are pretty much aware about the kind of common download speeds which are available in India, one can see only the High Power Broadband users using this facility.
